Manheim Township Boys Youth Lacrosse follows US Lacrosse's guidelines
for player development

 

 

MTBYLA focuses on developing the fundamental technical skills to play the game of lacrosse and introducing the foundation of lacrosse strategy in preparation for the transition to the competitive high school level of play.

MTBYLA Program Structure by Age Group

7U

Designed for beginner players new to Lacrosse. Kindergarten and 1st graders with no prior lacrosse skills instruction should register for this team.

We will use a soft lacrosse ball to teach the boys the basics of catching, throwing, and ground ball play. This program is designed to be fun and fast-paced, with an emphasis on enjoying the game.

  • Teams: One (1) team
  • Practice: One (1) day per week starting in Late-March/Early April to Mid-May.
  • Games: No games at this level.
  • Tournaments: No Tournaments are planned for this level
  • Equipment: No equipment needed other than a full-size lacrosse stick. No Fiddle Sticks.

8U

This level is 2nd graders, plus kindergarteners and 1st graders with prior lacrosse experience.

  • Teams: TBD, pending number of registrants
  • Practices: 2 days per week starting in Early-March to mid-May.
  • Games: League games on select Saturdays or Sundays beginning late-March to Mid-May
  • Tournaments:  Participation in two tournaments, including Township's Clash for the Cup
  • Equipment: Full equipment is required and may be borrowed through the club. Stick, mouth guard and athletic cup are not provided.

 

10U

This level is for our 3rd and 4th graders. The intent at this level to have fun and continue to develop basic lacrosse skills and knowledge while increasing the level of competition.

  • Teams: TBD, pending number of registrants
  • Play Format:  7v7 on small-sided fields
  • Practices: 3 days per week starting in Early-March to Mid-May
  • Games: League games on select Saturdays or Sundays beginning late March to Mid-May
  • Tournaments: Participation in 3 tournaments, including Township's Clash for the Cup
  • Equipment: Full equipment is required and may be borrowed through the club. Stick, mouth guard and athletic cup are not provided.

12U

This level is for our 5th and 6th graders. The intent at this level to have fun and continue to develop basic lacrosse skills and knowledge while increasing the level of competition.
